What I've Been Up To:

ARC copies of The Chamos Project are in the inboxes of my ARC team! While they're busy reading, I have notes back from my proofreader, and I'm working hard to get the final copy of TCP ready for publication.

(If you signed up for an ARC and didn't receive one, please check your spam folder and reach out to me if you still don't see it!)

The Latest:

Latest Watch

My partner and I have been binging seasons 2 and 3 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives...I cannot tell you how addicting this show is.

Latest Listen:

I still have 2+ months of my usual podcasts (Tooth and Claw, National Park After Dark) to catch up on, but have also been listening to some Pod Save America while road-tripping to see family for the holidays.

Latest Read

The Worst Hard Time - a compelling nonfiction book about the Dust Bowl.

What's Next:

The Chamos Project releases on 2/17/2026! In the coming weeks, I'll be posting fanart, blurbs, and excerpts on my various social media platforms.

Once TCP is out, I plan to pivot to my second book, which is currently with my developmental editor and is tentatively scheduled to come out in August/September.

On the short story front, I have 4 stories slated for publication in 2026:

“Emergence” – Harvey Duckman Presents

“Opportunity Cost” – Disability in Dystopia anthology

“Time Drift” – Fiction on the Web

“To the person who loves my husband” – The Celestial Glossary

I'm looking forward to whatever else this year brings!

Alexis Ames Cosmic Scribbles What I've Been Up To: It's a long email today! We're taking a look at 2025, and then talking a bit about what 2026 has in store. I had 10 short stories published this year. I've listed them below, with links and summaries so you can check them out: “Maintenance” – Andromeda Spaceways Magazine Issue #97, co-written with Kat Veldt. An engineer encounters unexpected guests mid-flight on a generation ship. “Valiant” – Black Cat Weekly A rock band enroute to the next...

Alexis Ames Cosmic Scribbles Twenty years after an attack perpetrated by androids nearly cost Doctor Leander Dade his life, he’s serving with them once again on the first mission to Alpha Centauri. When the ship becomes stranded, he must put his animosity aside to not only survive, but also uncover the true reason behind the accident. (This is a fake book cover I made in Canva. The real cover will be revealed closer to the release date!) Presenting... New newsletter format, new subtitle, new...

A photograph of an island in a lake at sunset, with the sun behind the trees. The sky is blue and pink, and there are lilypads and reeds in the water close to shore.

What I've been up to: I took a break from writing this summer and instead focused on hiking, traveling, lake life, visiting friends and family, working on various improvements around the house, and being constantly horrified by the news. Now that summer is waning, it's time to turn back to writing. Sunset over the lake. What I'm working on: I have a lot of different WIPs that I'm half-heartedly poking at: a novella I'm pitching as KNIVES OUT in space, a novel about a galactic bounty hunter...
